Megan Adams Brooks
Inspired by patterns and textures in the natural world, Megan Adams Brooks creates abstract paintings on silk that reflect the beauty throughout nature. Combinations of patterns, textures, and colors have always captured her attention and sparked a motivation for her art. The innovative use of fiber techniques within her work provides an avenue of expression that is refreshing and challenging, as well as beautiful. Throughout Brooks’ painting process, her spontaneous sensibility and expressive markings include layering and repeating imagery in an organic and unexpected manner.
Ms. Brooks’ talent and love of the creative process began early and was noticed by an art teacher who encouraged her along the way. By the time she entered high school it was clear what her chosen career path would be and she eagerly pursued it. After obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas then she obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in Fibers at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. From these studies she discovered a love of working with fabric, which in turn led to her abstract paintings on silk.
Brooks’ work has been exhibited at Art Basel in Miami and McKinney Avenue Contemporary in Dallas. She lives and works in Dallas, TX.
