When she is not painting Lou loves being outside working on native habitat gardening, hiking and volunteering locally.
STATEMENT
All my paintings start from a process of being outside, looking and working from observation. I love the whole experience of discovering a landscape, setting up the easel and spending hours as the light and weather changes. Certain views and locations become layered with associations and emotions as I return to paint at the same sites repeatedly. Inside the studio I’m using these “plein-air” easel paintings, imagination, and memory to create larger works.
