an abstract waterscape with teal colored water covered with lilypads ranging in color from olive to pale green. there are several olive-colored stalks coming out of the water. at the top of the grassy stalks are round blossoms in different shades of pink and red. there are two white egrets in the center of the painting between two masses of botanicals. there are a few fish swimming in the water below. the background is a pale peach color

A Sentient Arrangement 2024

November 19, 2024 by Jennifer Blumenstock

an abstracted still life of flowers in a cream-colored vase resting against a tawny colored background. the flowers are brilliant shades of red, orange, tangerine, peach, white, soft lemon yellow, and vermillion. the flowers are abstracted to shapes and color blocks instead of having individually painted petals.

an abstract mixed media piece on canvas. the right 2/3 of the piece is a pale blue, almost white, and the left 1/3 is white. there is a thin line in tangerine that snakes its way across the piece. On the surface, this canvas appears as though it consists of lines that form abstract shapes, atop geometrically straight rectangles, all applied by the stroke of a paintbrush. However, as you step forward the lines of these shapes disconnect from the canvas and you notice each was placed on by hand: using hand-cut, extremely fine thin strips of paper masterfully layered upon the canvas. Moreover, once this realisation sets in, you suddenly become aware of an entirely new layer of texture. Different hand-cut shapes of paper adhere to the canvas before any painting takes place. Creating a degree of texture and depth to delightfully unexpected.
